About Deniz Beser
Beser is a visual artist, curator, and independent publisher based in Vienna and Istanbul. His multidisciplinary practice operates at the intersection of painting, drawing, zines, artist books, music, video, and ready-mades, reflecting a dynamic engagement with independent publishing and contemporary art.
Beser earned his BA in Ceramics and Glass Design from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul and pursued studies in Painting at the University of Seville in Spain. He is the founder and director of Open Studio Days İstanbul (@openstudiodays) and Fanzineist Vienna Art Book & Zine Fair, key platforms fostering alternative artistic expressions and independent publishing. Additionally, he is the co-founder of Heyt be! Fanzin (@heytbefanzin), a collective exploring the intersection of print culture and contemporary art, and the co-founder & president of Analog Dialog, a Vienna-based art association that initiates experimental projects within the city’s independent art scene.
His work has been exhibited across Europe, Asia, and Canada, with notable presentations at institutions such as Kunsthalle Exnergasse, New Jörg and Kunsthalle Wien (Austria), and Kunsthalle Zürich (Switzerland). His work has been reviewed in Canon Europe, Schwäbisch Tagblatt, The Bridge Magazine and featured in Artribune, renk magazin and Augustin. In 2021, Beser received a grant from READ (Goethe-Institut Skopje & Center for Balkan Cooperation – LOJA) for his solo exhibition and artist residency program in Tetovo, North Macedonia. In 2024-2025, Beser’s organization, Fanzineist Vienna Art Book & Zine Fair, has been granted the right to receive funding through SHIFT, a program by the City of Vienna that supports alternative artistic practices and decentralized cultural initiatives.
At the same time, Beser’s art works are in private collections in Austria, France, Germany, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Public Collections include British Library (England), Universität Bern Library (CH) and the University of California (US). He is currently working on painting, zine, video and performance projects.
